This index was compiled from a card file of marriages noted in the Fredonia Censor (FC) 1819 through 1899. Although most of the file was extracted from the Censor and it predecessor, the New York Censor (NYC), also included are marriage records of Judge Mullet of Fredonia (Jdg Mullett), and a few extracts from Dunkirk Observer (DO), Fredonia Advertiser (FA), Mayville Sentinel (MS), Westfield Messenger (WM), Westfield Phoenix (WP), Westfield Republican (WR), and a few from a file copied from unspecified sources by Frank Lamb (F Lamb).
Part I is an alphabetical list indexed by bride\’s surname and Part II by groom\’s. These are followed in column form by date of marriage, location, cleric who performed the marriage, other information in the original notice, and the date and note of the publication from which the information was extracted.
This work was done in a limited data format. The card from which this was extracted may contain more information, and the original notice in the newspaper even more. A researcher with a particular interest in an individual may wish to contact the D. R. Barker Museum, 7 Day Street, Fredonia, New York 14063, where the original card file is housed. They may be able to furnish a copy of the card and/or a copy of the original notice. Upon request, they may also furnish information about an individual or a family from other sources in their collection.
