This is a compilation of indexed extractions from obscure sources, gathered for the purpose of aiding the family genealogist who has Chautauqua County connections. The first discovery was a group of early newspapers which came to light in the Chautauqua County Historical Society, The next discovery was a series of scrapbooks of clippings about people in the north end of the county, and scrap books in other local repositories became available.

Most of these items do not have additional information of interest to a family genealogist, but sometimes it is important to have an actual copy of the clipping, and it is for that reason that there is a key to the source of most clippings. The staff of the Historical Society is limited and cannot undertake extensive research on behalf of a distant correspondent, but they will, however, attempt to fulfill a single request for information about one particular entry. Please identify the item by name, and note the type of record you wish. A donation of $7.50 is suggested; send to Chautauqua County Historical Society, Box 7, Westfield, NY 14787.

Please note that this is not the same organization that published this volume.
